Ahoy bitches. The holidays are over, so it’s time to start planning another vacation! If you have a revised New Yearโs Resolution from my previous blog, itโs time I hold yโall accountable to your 2023 travel goals.
Iโm gonna be super honest with you here. I donโt know the best travel destinations. Thereโs SO MANY! Plus, your best travel destination is going to differ based on time, cost, desired activities, people youโre going with, or not going with and so on and so on.
Therefore (clears throat, fixes glasses), I have provided you with a few locations based on the kind of vacation youโre going for: vacation on a budget, witness world events and relaxation nation. Feel free to jump around if you know what youโre looking for.
Vacation on a Budget
Calling all college spring breakers, recent grads and moola savers. Iโve pulled three destinations that wonโt break the bank. ย
1. Mexico
Mexico is one of my favorite destinations because you can experience culture, beautiful and luxury at the same time for a great price! Dive into cenotes in Tulum. Swim with the whale sharks in Cabo. Relax on the beach in Puerto Vallarta. Climb the ancient stairs of Ttatelolco. Always try and book direct if possible and pull out some pesos as soon as you get there too!

2. National Parks
Get your butt in nature. The United States encompasses 63 National Parks and over 400 national park sites. From the mammoth redwood forests to great sand dunes or boiling acid pools to the wetlands of the Everglades, thereโs a park for everyone. Donโt miss out on the 5 free days offered on:
- January 16
- April 22
- August 4
- September 23
- November 11
In addition, get the America the Beautiful pass if you plan on visiting 3 or more parks. Also, beware these parks are still requiring reservations to visit before: Arches, Zion, Yosemite, Muir Woods, Acadia, Glacier, Rocky Mountain, Shenandoah, Haleakala and Red Rock Canyon. Go to https://www.recreation.gov to reserve your spot.

3. Las Vegas
I know, so cheesy. However, if youโre looking for a quick weekend getaway on a low budget (as long as you can control your gambling addiction) Las Vegas can be one cheap vacation. Round trip flights can cost as low as $18. Plus, you can earn rewards for your visit like discounted helicopter excursions, free play money and even free hotels if you download the app My Vegas slots! Iโve used this app to stay at the New York, New York for 2 free nights and got myself $100 in free play money.
Witness World Events
Why, hello all of my esteemed collegues. There is a lot going on this year around the world but from my research and implicit biases these are some can not miss world events.ย
1. FIFA Women’s World Cup: New Zealand & Australia
The Womenโs World Cup is the perfect excuse to finally book that trip across the globe! From July 20-August 20th 32 nations will compete for the ultimate football prize. Can the United States women bring home a third World Cup title after losing to Canada after the olypmics?
2. King Charles II Coronation
Although not many details have been released, King Charles III will be coronated on May 6th, 2023. Despite the slim chances of receiving admission to the coronation, the streets of England will be littered with celebration to follow. In tradition, Charles has encouraged parties to be thrown in the street on May 7th and May 8th to be a day of volunteering events.
Relaxation Nation
1. Aruba
One Happy Island known for its world class beaches and perfect weather, Aruba has numerous luxury hotels to call home for a week. This tiny island has its own airport convenient for transportation and is only 70 square miles perfect for exploring all of its beauty within.

2. Costa Rica
Finally, If youโre looking for a tropical paradise Costa Rica is the place. This country brings their motto โpura vidaโ to life with their cultural sustainability practices, farm-to-table dining and plethora of wellness resources. From the jungle to the coast, Costa Rica is scattered with breathtaking luxury resorts, villas and retreats to unwind, recharge and regain peace in your life.
