Kyle & Halley Update June ’23
My grandma has just informed me I haven’t done an update since April! Ah! So you can thank her for reminding me to post another one. Sorry y’all! For everyone waiting, here is our newest Kyle and Halley Update. Thank you guys for your patience & no promises it won’t happen again.
What’s Been Happening
Kyle and I have been employed and living on our separate boats for over a month now and have finally settled in. As a reminder, Kyle is based in Vero Beach about 2 hours North of me on a 90 foot Burger. While I am in North Miami on a 75 foot Sunseeker.

Even with the distance we’ve been very lucky to see each other almost every weekend!
Early May we were able to finish our Open Water Scuba Certification. Unfortunately though, we got rained out and had to finish our dives at the lake. Still, it was nice to get a murky water experience under our weighted belts. Lol scuba jokes.

I completed my first boss trip on my new boat that ended with some serious mechanical problems making for a little impromptu yard period. While technicians have been fixing the engines, I’ve been living & working on board full time getting familiar, organized and prepared for when we head up the coast.
Shortly after that Kyle completed his first ever boss trip too! While “on charter” (Yes, you still say on charter even if you’re a private boat) he got to drive the big boat for a while on the intercoastal waterway, captain the tender (the smaller boat) and help out with some cooking! The owners said he did a really good job, except when he forgot to cut their sandwiches in half. Pshh rookie mistake.

While Kyle was on his boss trip, I was able to go home for a weekend to attend my cousin’s wedding and my sister’s graduation. It was a beautiful wedding and thankfully a quick graduation. I was able to see a lot of extended family while being home and even help get my parent’s boat in the water lol of course.

Being our last month in Florida for the season, Kyle and I have taken advantage of the beach and have picked up skim boarding. We’ve gotten some pointers from a bunch of children and are really shredding (but mostly still falling) now. We tried fishing and caught nothing. We did go scuba diving this past weekend and saw a shipwreck, some lobsters, an eel that all made me really want to get into underwater photography.

Being stuck in Miami has also given me the chance to meet up with more of my yachting friends! The crew from All Inn, a 40 meter charter yacht I met last summer, have been in town as well as Sarah my old chef from my last job. It’s been really nice seeing some familiar faces.
What’s Coming Up
Kyle is working hard to get his boat ready to go up the Northeast for the summer. They plan on getting underway within the next week and bouncing their way slowly up the coast.
Sadly, it looks like they might not have time to go all the way up to Maine anymore, though that may mean more time in New York which would (conveniently) be close to me!
My boat is also gearing up to head up the coast soon. Hopefully within the next week we’ll be at our home berth in Norwalk, Connecticut. It’s really all dependent on these Florida contractors whose work schedules are about as clear as mud.
Once we both get up the coast, season is in full swing. That means a lot of moving around, owner’s trips and new destination content! WHAT WHAT!
I’ve just purchased a drone and plan on making videos of the boat’s journey, our destinations and whatever else I think is cool to share. As of now, I’ll be posting these videos to my Instagram if you want to check them out!
