Create Your Ultimate Bucket List

Ahoy kids. Welcome back to your favorite travel blog: Plank Runner. The blog that encourages you to chase the dreams that seem crazy, do things you’ve never imagined and create a life that, don’t worry still is not perfect, but so freaking rad that all those other bad parts don’t matter (as much). So strap in, sit tight and let’s get into everything we want to do before we die. AKA your ultimate bucket list.

Why It’s Important & How It Helps

I imagine a lot of you reading have a running list in your head already. Maybe it’s skydiving, backpacking Europe or helping your parents retire. No matter how big or small, creating a list of everything you want to do in this life will help to achieve them.

Firstly, creating a bucket list works as a motivator. No longer is it just a thought in your head, but instead something you can look at. It becomes a means to hold you accountable and a reminder to keep you motivated. Human nature wants you to cross things off your lists. I get it all too well. Which reminds me, I hope y’all are following through with your New Year’s Resolutions and have checked out some of the Best Travel Destinations of 2023.

Secondly, a bucket list is a great means of reflection. Not only is it a mirror of your values, character and aspirations, but also a reflection of how well you’ve lived up to your own expectations. However so often, one can look back at what is actually important in their lives and measure lifetime accomplishments.

Thirdly, it takes a lifetime to accomplish!! There is no get-rich-quick scheme (unfortunately) or 30 day extreme weight loss guide. Only you and time, baby. It’s okay if you’re 60 and just getting around to it now or are 25 and blogging?! Yea, that was definitely not apart of my list, but is now. My point is, there is no right or wrong time. Your list will change and grow just as you do. Don’t stress about getting everything knocked off by next year. You’ll get around to it, if not, you’ll be dead and that’s a pretty good excuse too.

The Buried Life: A Perfect Example

If you haven’t already, I highly recommend watching the show The Buried Life on Amazon Prime. In addition, you can read their book What Do You Want To Do Before You Die. The way these boys live their lives’ is truly inspiring.

For those of you that don’t want to check it out, I’ll give you a quick breakdown. Four friends tired of the mundane, decide to quit it all, buy a bus and knock things off their bucket list. Playing basketball with President Obama, escaping a deserted island, crashing a party at the playboy mansion, having a beer with prince harry, taking kids on a shopping spree, are just a few things they’ve accomplished since starting their quest. Every time they accomplish a goal on their list they help a stranger knock a goal off their own as well.

Literally, gives me chills just thinking about dropping everything to live in a van with my three best friends doing everything we’ve ever wanted to do and more!

Fan-girling aside. They are a perfect example on how to achieve your goals.

Create Your Own

I’ve made it easy for you to start a list of your own. Feel free to check out my Canva page and create your own list with my template. Put it as your screensaver to keep you motivated or just save it in your photos. A daily reminder really isn’t that necessary. Also, this is my first time trying this so if it doesn’t work, use pen and paper I guess.

Again, there is no timeline. You’ll be adding things to your list as they come up. Though, also hopefully crossing them off too. If you’re struggling to come up with some things I’ve posted mine below to get the creative juices flowing.

If you’d like to knock that last one off my list, check out my Yachting Blog page and How To Get Started In Yachting. It worked for Kyle!

Let me know what’s on your lists or what you’ve recently knocked off below!

This is an awesome idea! I’m getting one off my list next month with a trip to Costa Rica! 😁 and love the idea of ‘help your parents retire’ – will talk to my boys about that one!!! Thanks, once again for the laughs and smiles – keep them coming! ❤️

This is fabulous! And I agree with Momma Faith and helping retire your parents. You have more then half of those done and you’re only 25!
